Celebramos!!

Its been a full two weeks of celebrations!! We started by celebrating Nicki's birthday!!  She loves the outdoors so no better way than to do the 3 Crosses hike!! We enjoyed an overcast day before the rain and thunder set in on us heading down the mountain!! A little frightening to be on a mountain in the lightening!  But we made it down fine and loved enjoying God's beauty! The hike is so interesting and full of so many different terrains.
First Cross with Jessie, Sydney, and Nicki!!
My favorite part of the hike!! What I like to call Switzerland or Ireland!! Surprising huh?!
Birthday dinner at Dina's house with all the mentors! Well missing mine and Jessie's...
Vida Joven Alajuela Soccer Tournament an all day long event, 7 am - 7 pm, with all the different areas of Young Life in the city!! There were 23 different teams of kids playing each other and cheering each other on very enthusiastically all day!!

This is one of the Capernaum kids playing the drum to cheer for the other teams!! This is one of my favorite aspects about Vida Joven here is that Capernaum, our ministry to kids with disabilities, are included in everything!!
Our team strategizing before their second game against Capernaum!

This is the enthusiastic cheering I was talking about... The kids banged on drums none stop ALL day!!!  But it was really neat to see them all unite and cheer each other on!
Our team after playing in the Finals!!!

My favorite Club of the year so far.... Tourist Club!! Fer, Sydney and Claudia and I so excited to be tacky tourists!!

Yay!! Blue Team after finishing my treasure hunt!!
Don't worry... Costa Rica has real life Fanta girls in the mall!!

Last celebration was this weekend for Ali's birthday!! Ali's an other Staff Associate with me and she's one of my best friends here.  She's been so great to me in my transitioning and has helped me tremendously! We celebrated by eating her favorite sushi on Wednesday, her real birthday, and at Tourist Club we all got to eat cake!! Then Saturday we celebrating in true tico style by dancing with a big group of our friends from San Francisco, Vida Joven and outside of work!

And this is my biggest celebration!! God's blessed me with these beautiful women to walk through life with me here while in Costa Rica.  They've encouraged me so much the past few months and I am so grateful to have them in my life!! Please join us in praying for God's vision and guiding as we are re-vamping Young Life!  We are excited and celebrating change and the challenges that lie before us but need your prayers for favor with the administration of Country Day School, courage and strength to persevere!
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"

  1. Great to see you with "your" kids. It looks like you're having a blast! I'm so proud of you and all you do.Keep up the good work and know I'm with you every step you take. I have a feeling you will be moving soon and things will become a little easier for you. Love you and miss you, Dad
